    i expected that helicoil to give you a problem with leakage, that will leak overtime as the rubber gasket degrades unfortunately. The only real way to fix that permanently is to use a proper threaded insert, you can pick them up on mcmastercarr. Been down this road before with oil pans.

    I'd rather not say. I don't want it to get back to my wife. LOL! I think I did pretty well though. The really big ticket items (300m IS and 7/8' sprockets) were bought used in great condition. Everything else was purchased at the best possible price, found after a ton of searching. The only exception being, some of the stuff I got from the transmission shop here in town. For that, I chose to pay a little more, get it right away, and keep some of my dollars local.

    I'm curious what people think I spent, or would be willing to spend on a unit just like this one.

    Well, I hope the HeliCoil does the trick, but I'm going to keep a close eye on it regardless. I feel pretty good about that Nylon washer. Time will tell.
