Often it is a repair that can be made without remove of the trans. There is a lip seal on the reverse apply servo that can cause this problem and there is an aftermarket seal that was redesigned to address this problem. The rear servo can be accessed by removing the cover and snap ring which is located just below the rear of the exhaust crossover pipe below the throttle body. It is a round cover roughly 3" or so and there is a metal snap ring that holds the cover in the place. I have plenty of the seals if you want to try one, I ship them postal for $5 total to US addresses. I should also mention that though the original lip seal may be the common problem, it does not mean that replacing this will cure the problem. Other less common internal problems can be a worn reverse boost valve and a blown out channel plate gasket and either of these will still allow normal forward function of the trans.
ok cool thanks man.....ill have to check that out it is a DIY for me even if i know nothing about a trans?
Hey i have the same problem except it usually does this on all of my gears even Drive.. but it only takes a second to kick in..... does this mean my transmission is going out??
