Ohh god umm have you looked at a set of 7/8s gears vs stock? Stock uses a dual chain setup and as far as I know you cant put a 7/8s chain on stock gears. You need gears and 7/8s chain like the setup from Triple Edge Performance if your trying to run 7/8s setup.
Zero machining needs to be done but you need new channel plate gaskets once you take the valve body and channel plate off to expose the chain and gears. This can all be done in the car if you lower the cradle enough to get the side cover off. Also while you in there might as well replace the 4th gear clutch pack.
Have fun the 4th gear clutch pack and channel plate is kind of a fvcker to line up with the channel plate gaskets when doing this in the car........
