Just a quick question to anyone who's had experience rebuilding these transmissions. Does the valve body need to be separated from the channel plate in order to remove the retaining clip that holds the boost valve assembly in place? Judging by the pictures I've seen the clip comes out the side the channel plate mates to. I thought maybe I could just pull the two ends on the clip away from the spot where it seats on the "end cap" and slide everything past it. Just trying to avoid waiting for a gasket kit to come in and dealing with check balls...

Valve body has to be separated from channel plate to remove retaining clip for boost valve. Only one that can be removed without taking off the valve body is the PCS (Force Motor)

Ah damn. Well, I guess I'll try seeing if the stealership has the newer style plate with molded gaskets, if I get them online I'll be waiting until like midweek.

Are the plastic retaining screws and the little screens supposed to be replaced with the spacer plate/gaskets? I found them on Rockauto but same deal with the shipping.

Just as an update, hopefully picking up the gasket tomorrow from a dealership after ordering it from OE Parts HQ and never even getting a shipping confirmation email or tracking number. They didn't have any problem charging me though, so I'd advise anyone ordering from there to be careful and contact them immediately if you don't get a shipping confirmation within a day or two. I'll be canceling/returning that crap.

In terms of the retaining screws and screens, I asked Dave at TEP about them and he said that they don't have to be replaced, but can break easily. So new screens and possibly screws won't hurt if you tend to break things :P

And to alleviate anyone of the confusion I went through with the massive amounts of part numbers and revisions to these gaskets, the newest gasket revision for between the channel plate and valve body (the spacer plate has the gaskets molded to it) comes in a kit along with a newer style temp sensor clip (no idea why that needed to be changed) and a new torque signal valve. The part number for this whole kit, at least for non-tapshift 4T65E's, is 24244403. It contains part number 24224544, which is the part number for the molded spacer plate/gasket by itself.
