Hi Navy question for you on this subject. Replaced the front struts last weekend and found I have a bad cv joint. So next weekend I'm replacing both axles. Is there a seal where the shaft goes into the tranny that I should replace as well? I'm sure these axles are original.

What was wrong with the axles? There is a seal called the transmission output shaft seal, it's located in the channel plate. All it may take to replace it is a pick but I'm not sure. I just left it alone, mine has 111k on it and it's still not leaking. I did clean it well though, there was dirt on it that probably isn't so good for it to have a spinning axle moving dirt around. I just wrapped 1 sheet of paper towel around a straight pick tool, and wiped around the seal.

There are seals on both sides. I would inspect them before you tear the car down and see if there leaking.
I would almost bet you the passenger side is leaking.

when I got the car the right front tire leaned in at the top. I checked it and the strut was bent because the kid had run it into a ditch. When I was replacing the struts I saw the boot was torn at the tranny. So I took it off and saw the spider assembly was about to fall out. Apparently that leaning tire wore it out. As for the seal wanted to be sure. I may have told y'all I only paid $500 for this 2000 GP SE 3.1. So far I have put on a TPS, IAC, water pump, tune up ,oil change and front struts all this for $245, so I still have less than $800 in it. It runs great its just things that should have been done and wasn't.
