I'm having transmission problems. It feels like my car only has reverse,1st, and 2nd gear. It takes off great just like always but never shifts past 35mph. The engine just revs after that. My regal gs has 211,000 miles and I'm trying to double that.

i dont think that trans will make it 400..... mine lost 3 rd gear at 216,000.
have it scanned see if any trans codes come up, or any other codes that may affect shifting.
check the fluid level, and color of the fluid, sniff it to see if its burnt as well.
I have my own scanner, but no transmission codes came up. The fluid is at the correct level and does not smell burnt. However the color is deep brown so ill change that and filter today. A few guys at work warned me not to change the filter/fluid on it because it is so high mileage. But it's not like I can break the trans again right? It's already not working right.
Changing the fluid and filter won't hurt anything regardless of mileage. Also 4th gear is od
i cant see a fluid change fixing lost gears, its time for a rebuild or a used tranny from a junk yard.
fluid and a filter seems like a waste of money at this point to me. save that stuff for the next tranny you buy.
Save your money on the fluid change, as mentioned above it is not going to bring back missing gears. Since you have a scan tool you can scan live transmission data (if you have a nicer tool that does this) and make sure the pcm is commanding a 2-3 shift. The pcms are pretty forgiving in these cars in respect to throwing trouble codes for missing gears so you likely wont ever see one and have to troubleshoot by watching live data. Often times on higher mileage vehicles that lose 3rd gear is either due to 3rd clutches slipping and burning to the point they will no longer hold or the 3rd sprag is shot and will no longer hold in the lock direction, which either way means rebuild.
That sucks. Because I know nothing about rebuilding transmissions. I read the write-ups on this forum but got even more lost. How hard is it going to be to replace those 3rd clutches & 3rd gear sprang, that 4th gear shaft thing I read about that has hardened shaft for 2003+ , and the 2 solenoids that the guys at work are saying I need that supposed to be in the side cover somewhere?
Then you talk to Dave at TEP (Trannyman95) and have him build you one, or find a low mile one at a JY and swap it in. Depends on your budget and time frame.
Doing a sprag/clutches, you'll be bicep deep in the trans casing.
FWIW your guys at work are talking based on other transmissions/issues. The soleniods are almost definately not the issue. Please look up how the gears are commanded based on the combination of the two soleniods. If your soleniods weren't working, you'd have only 3rd gear.
What is the possibily that if the only gear I had was 3rd gear... Should I still feel the car downshift if I maneuver the shifter to 2 or 1?
