ok im in the process of getting a dynotech stage 3 trans with 3.29 gearing with 4K miles on it. its from a 1997 L67 and my car is a 1998 L67. if i recall, the 97-98 are the same in regards to the tranny lines correct? also would a 2750 stall converter with L36 flexplate be a good combo for the tranny? im hoping/aiming for mid to low 12s for what its worth. thanks in advance.

Those years interchange just fine so nothing to worry about on the cooler lines. If the converter you are referring to is included with the trans then you are probably fine to use it. If you are looking at a new one then you can read another thread that me and Japslpr are talking in about converters.

thanks dave, i actually bought a used low mileage from another member off CGP and IIRC is a ZZP 2750...i'll have to read up in that thread u mentioned.

edit-i didnt know a stall and converter were 2 separate things *slaps forehead
edit2-wait is it one or 2 components?
edit3-i have the 245mm converter from zzp as the casing is blue and from zzp's site has it that it uses the L36 flex plate which i also bought with the stall lol. so is this setup alright? lol

The stall speed if a property of the torque converter. When you're saying it's a ZZP 2750, you're saying it's a torque converter rated to stall at 2750 RPM (with whatever engine they decide to rate it with).

To clear your mind... .lol.... A Torque Converter is the same thing as a Stall converter. Stall converter is just slang for a performance higher "Stall" speed converter. ZZP has an article on there site now, or they did anyways about advertised stall speed ratings. It is just a general number that really doesnt mean much. Every engine will cause it to stall at a different rpm. M90 cars make lots of low end torque which will make a converter stall at a higher rpm than an NA engine that doesnt have the low end torque and this number car greatly vary. A 2750 converter, or any "shelf" numbered converter may not stall anywhere near that and is moreless a ballpark number that may not have any relation to your setup. Stock GTP 258mm converters are only rated for around 1700-1900 stall rpm but they really stall anywhere from 2700-3200, thats right that is NOT a typo! Mod dependant the stall speed is going to vary greatly and those converters ratings way off unless used in an NA application. Some of the larger cars like the Bonne's used the 258mm converter with the L36 which would have a much lower stall rpm which would be closer to what they are rated. A 245mm converter-like your ZZP blue converter- will require an L36 flexplate, billet flexplate with correct holes, or a drilled flexplate to accept the holes, so you are fine using the L36 flexplate though they are balanced different but I have not run into any balance vibration issues nor have I seen any long term damage caused from it.
