the other day i put my 99 grand prix gt coupe in reverse to leave my driveway and when i touched the gas it didnt go anywhere. Basically sometimes it jsut gota let it roll out if it doesnt catch by slaming the gas.

    Any suggestions?

(I got in mind to just park it till im done college to do a project car right now im doing body work but the rockers are rusted and so are the fenders. My mechanic that did my cert said the bottom looks likes its from the south.)
So i dont know if its worth it or now?

    1. Check the fluid level. Is it full?

    2. Wipe the trans. dipstick on a white towel. What color is it? Nice and red, or brown/black. Does it smell burnt? Any sparkly bits in it?

    3. Could do with a pan drop and filter change and see what that gets you since I don't know when the last time it was changed by you and the mileage on this car.

Pretty sure you can see the reverse band from underneath. It's the closest band to the driverside.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So then a pan drop should give you an inspection of the rev band as well? Didn't know that. Good info.

    I'm wrong.

Filter etc is in the way and there's no hole to see the band

See the black cylinder poking up into the case at this end. That's the piece the band engages on. There's no hole

Well, if the OP keeps revving it to get it to grab there could be a hole soon. Thanks for clarifying Bill.

May be the reverse servo seal. Might be something else.
