Hey guys. First off transmissions aren't really my thing, so i thought I would post this up to ask you all. I am getting some odd shifts, kinda like the transmission is dropping into gear, almost like hard shifting, but I am unsure. Also i was wondering if I should change my fluid and filter and what method I should use or if it is even applicable (117,000 miles). Like I said I don't know a lot about transmissions so any help would be great.

Not having a clue of what you drive.. (year/model are always helpful) it's likely the pcs acting up. A fluid change may help. If you want to toss in the easier of the two ways that guys try to fix this.. you can put in a transgo shift kit and a bottle of lucas with the service.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Ok so I have a few more questions. I have an 01 grand prix gt with 121000 miles on the clock now. I have been having this hard shift issue for about a month and half and it seems to happen once the car gets up to temp (190). Before that it shifts just fine. I believe its what was stated above, the PCS.

I want to put a shift kit and trans cooler on to try and fix the issue, but without knowing any service history on the tranny should I do this? I have heard that changing the fluid could damage a transmission with this many miles and no fluid change.

I will get pics of the fluid condition up tonight.

    Some help would be great.

You would definately be fine doing a shift kit, one quart of lucas (instead of one of the regular fluid quarts) and if you wanted a cooler. The problem isn't the trans getting warm though. It's an electrical soleniod issue.
