    so since i got the 05 ive had 2 things happen with tranny... first time at a stop sign i lightly pressed gas to get going again and it almost felt like the diff was slipping over splines of axles... really bad vibration for like 2 seconds.. but then went away and never happened again. then yesterday at a stop sign i pressed gas and it felt like a PCS issue. it revved a lil then banged into gear. i did a filter and fluid change last week. any other time the car drives and shifts fine. feels like a brand new tranny. car has 140k on it. was thinking about putting in some lucas or seafoam trans tune in... this car is pretty much driven on highway at all times.. and both times these things happened was after driving 50-60 miles on highway. what are your thoughts? will try and get it scanned soon.

    I'd do the service wtih Lucas and hope for it. Likely it's probably pressure or a sticky vb. but since I really don't know crap..I'm hoping Dave swoops in and diags you.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    thanks for input bill.. i dropped a bottle of lucas in today. hope it fixes it.. seeing as how intermittent it is.. i was thinking gunky valve body... fluid wasnt burnt when i changed it and the filter.. but had a dark color and smelled rank. doubt its ever been serviced before.

    my o5 impala would start to hard shift after 20 min of driving, and months later it started to slip and bang into first when taking off normally at a light.. not all the time though..
    i did fluid and filter change AND added lucas in the trans and didnt help at all.. ended up getting a new trans(from a 05 grandprix gt!) and still have the old trans sitting in storage, havent ever opened it up to see what was actually wrong but changing it out fixed all my problems..

    edit: the trans never left me stranded, i drove it 10 000 or more km like that before i decided to replace it, so drive it nice and you will have time to save for a new trans.

    that sounds like a pressure control solenoid.. chances are that trans is still good, just need to remove side pan and swap out solenoids. so far on my issue, the lucas has helped a lot.. my shifts are firmer and even though its only been 2 days or so ive had no problems yet.

    when i had that trans and it would start to hard shift i would just pull over or at a red light shut off the car for 30 secs, then turn it on and it wouldnt hard shift for 20min or up to a hour.was my quick fix lol

    yep... im 99.99999 sure thats a failing pressure control solenoid.. id hold on to that tranny and replace solenoid so u have a spare.

    what about at the stop light(with old trans), try to take off normally revs a lil then banged into gear..pressure control solenoid?
    I still got the tranny so i might just do that! what do i need to change out in the trans so its a 4t65e-HD

    yep... if it does it after it gets to operating temp... shut off car and it goes away for a lil while.. those are all signs of a bad pressure control solenoid.. u just need to get a pressure control solenoid.. i got mine from Triple Edge Performance - Home Page for my 02 gtp but he sells 04+ solenoids too. its pretty easy.. just remove side pan and swap them out.. triple edge sells tech manuals for 4t65's also.
