Never thought for a momment that would cause the problem..just adding that because someone had asked me what codes came up, that was the only one I saw.

I'm trying to get the pin outs for 1998,2003,2005 to compair them..
figured out the problem, it was the TCC solenoid the whole time..
Had used a friends scanner and it showed a p0181 code nothing els, ordered my own scanner and it showed me a code for the TCC solenoid stuck on.
Now from my own gathering and studying diagrams heres the 411 on swapped newer trans into our older cars...
for some odd reason the pin outs on the trans harness connector is the same from 98-03 but if you had swapped in a newer trans only a 2003 would shift the car passed 2nd gear. In finding out that in the newer 4t65e-hd such as a 2005 has a 3 pins located in a different location on the connector, and that is your trans range wires.. In turn if you take your connector and re-locate pins
N-F
P-H
R-G
And adding a ground to pin K
Your original ECU will shift the trans, mine is the perfect example. 98 ecu controlling a 2005 trans shifts like butter.. And im not getting any codes for different axle ratio. Plus i still have my performance shift option. Thats another part i had noticed when swapping a 2003 ECU while the pins are unchanged. Was i didn't have my performance shift option, didn't have my stock boost gauge on the display, avg mpg was way off! (35mpg in city) very doubt full, and my real fuel millage sucked.
With my original ECU back in and changing the pins gave me back everything plus not wasting gas like i had a BBC under the hood..
So if anyone is planning on doing a swap to a newer trans assuming 2003 and above, you don't have to buy a 2003 ECU to make it work. just change the pin location (mentioned above) Long as there is nothing els i missed out on, An your all set...
And it pays to have a good scanner and not a cheaply one!
