I have the notorious "4th gear stripped splines" issue on my 98 GT. I ran across a good deal on a low mile 4t65e out of a 97 GT (both regular 3.8L motors...neither supercharged). Will it bolt right in and hook right up, or will I run into issues.

    Thanks for the help!

Im pretty sure that the 97 gt transmission's were vacuum controlled, and will not work with yours because the 98+ switched to electronic controlled.

Just a heads up, if the trans. you get is manufactured in 99+ then it will probably have a different trans. line fitting on the one that connects to the lower port of the rad. Can't remember if its the input or output line.

I just installed a trans. from a 98 in my 00 GPGT and had to get a different line. If you look at your current transmission you will most likely find a threaded fitting on the trans line that is closet to the front of the car. One part of the fitting threads into the bottom of the trans, and the other part with the line threads into that fitting. The other line is the same. The 99+ trans. have the pressure fit lines.

I contacted TEP before swapping mine to make sure it would work. If in doubt, ask Dave!
