hi i have found a local man who has a transmission from a 98 gtp, i want to make sure before i purchase this that it will fit and shift fine in my 2000 gtp. i know i will be usuing the older style trans cooler lines, is there anything else i need to change or take into account b4 purchasing? i will be keeping my old trans and proibobly send it out and having it beefed up internally. that will come later on. trannyman95 u r probobly the most informed on this swap/exchange. i would apriciate the thumbs up on this trans for my vehicle, i asked the man if he could read the tag on the trans and he said ithere was a "DX" on the tag. we were on the phone so im not sure if this is correct. i will wait for the reply thank you!

Hey. Trannyman would know, However, I am sure that it will work. I know the trans from the compGs wont work because they have diff fdr and electronics and so on but I think the one form a 98 should work without problems.

I'm running a 98 trans in my 01, the cooler lines were the only real issue.

Yep just as the other guys said you will be fine as long as you use the correct cooler lines for the 98 trans, everything else is the same as long as it IS really a 98 GTP trans. It should have code "XA" on the ID tag on the back side of the case, if it is not an XA then it is not a GTP/GS trans.

And let's not forget the big 8 on the tag to denote a 98, right Dave

got a 95 se 299,500 on it everything works. air cold, been cold for 1 year now. new new....brake and fuel lines are original. clean. not rusty on those, but, pass rear quarter......rust. teal w a red trim stripe factory. just put a crank in the 3100 its got the updated roller heads on it. smooth. driver chair likes to lay on the back seat lol. recliner broke, has a board right where i want it....board = less passengers. might be for sale here in a minute. i dunno might need it if i keep the 2000 GTP Coupe. Oh and by the way i was not able to get the 98 transmission for the GTP. so im working on it. i may...i MAY try and gut the trans and rebuild.......i know its saves money and learning...........wow i give it up for you TRANNY guys man. ........... I seem to do well with engines. hehe I will say that both of these Grand prix's run beautifully. I did the same thing to both. fingers crossed. thanks for the help. i will keep you updated.
