    I'm researching rebuilding my '02 GTP transmission and need to know what special tools are needed. I have all the regular mechanics tools and the aptitude.
    I'm going to order the "Blue ATSG 4T65E Techtran Manual" from Triple Edge performance.
    Thanks for any info!

    Thanks GTPINSC;
    I have this on my favorites already, but after removing the trans I need to know what special tools are required for rebuilding the trans.
    Thanks

    In talking to Dave and Andrew G aka AGrazela (look for a how to rebuild a trans post by him, I'm sure he posted it here too). You'll find the main tools you want to have are an Input/3rd clutch resizer sleeve and a clutch compressor tool.

    I took the clutch tool pictured below and added the extra threaded rod on the bottom to get around the issue that Andrew found with it not being long enough to take out the 3rd/input clutches.

    This is the blue resizing tool

    Beyond that I used basic tools and found that when I needed to slide a seal down over some sharp edges, a freezer grade ziploc bag trimmed to size and lubed with trans fluid helped pass all those seals w/o nicking or damaging.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Thanks Bill Boost 37!
    I'll check out Triple Edge Performance again for their posts of how to rebuild. I also found an excellent post at the "Pontiac Bonneville Club.com" titled "Illustrated 4T65E Rebuild" step by step with over 100 pics. I've just started to review it all.
    Any idea where to purchase the re-sizer sleeve and clutch compressor tools?
    Thanks in advance for your additional help.
