    Hey guys,

I was out doing a WOT with my car, giving a buddy a ride and didnt even get through the first gear pull and SNAP! Lost all gears! I am assuming the input shaft has snapped. i have not tore into it yet. The car came this way with a stock trans...FML i know...But i do have a few questions....

    1. Can i replace the input shaft without removing the chain?
    2. I would guess i would need a new trq converter lockup ring?
    3. If the Input shaft is snapped how do most of you get them out?

Sorry for such the newb questions.

Been a while since I have been in a 4t65, but The gears and chain should just lift off once you have the 4th gear clutches and hub out, then you should be able to take out the shaft, I could be way off tho, just going off a bad memory.

Is there a way i can leave the clutch in and just replace the shaft? Or does it all have to be pulled to replace the shaft?

The input shaft will have tone removed while the torque converter is off the car. The reason being is you have to remove the o-ring on the shaft to get it back out of the case. As far as the chains, they just lift off once you're down to that point.

Ok. Do you think its possible that the chain just broke? Or is it more than likely the input shaft? I still have Park if that tells you anything.
