I know it does, I really appreciate the work that you did for the right up, especially the picture of where the back tranny bolt was located which was fairly easy to get to with a 3 foot extension.

We had the tranny loose and ready to drop, that's when we realized that we had to remove the subframe, not to big of a deal. It was harder to get the subframe back in and everthing aligned than anything else. It took us about 4.5 hours to get it out and 6.5 to get it all put back together start to finish.

I didn't know you had to get the subframe aligned before going back in? I thought you just had to get the 4 bolts in and the ball joints and your good to go? I've only assisted in dropping/installing it once. All I remember was holding the the subframe in the air while someone else just put the 4 bolts in.

I am thinking that our problem was that we had the engine secured up top, but it wasn't exactly square.
When you do it, is the engine secured higher than the subframe so that when you put the subframe back in all you have to do is bolt on the ps and then the 4 bolts? Then do you just lower the engine and tranny onto the subframe?
Sorry for the questions, just trying to figure out how we could have made it easier.

When bringing the subframe back up, I put the balljoints into the control arms, the rack back into it's area and try to line up the engine/trans mouht bolts at the same time. then I jack almost all the way (keeping pressure off the body at this point) and use a round alignment type bar (harbor freight set of 3) to go through the hole in the subframe and body to align it further and get the bolts back in. Jack the rest of the way and tighten the bolts up. Put on the ball joint nuts and cotters, the motor and trans mount lower nuts (tops never came out) and bolt the rack back up. Connect the ps line to th subframe and any electrical from the ABS that may have been removed to lower it.

Thanks for the extra information, if or when I have to do this on my 04 gp it should be easier.

Look in the modding visits albums and or transmission albums for the pics that would fill in the gaps. I know they are there, it's just a matter of finding them

I looked through your albums some on my break, when I get a little more time I will go through some more. I definately think that the picture you have of the Bonneville with the 4"x4" across the engine should be included and a note that states to do this first before loosening any of the tranny bolts.
If you do't mind me using your pictures I would like to go through your albums and pull out all the ones that would be useful for the tranny swap and update it with your notes and any additional information that would be useful.
