    about how long do the trans. in these cars last befor going out or needing a rebuild? i got a GP GT for 200$ that has no motor and the stock trans in it has around 160 000 miles on it. shound i get this rebuilt or buy another befor putting my new motor in? Thank you!

    put the motor in and see how it works first before spending unnecessary money

    the guy said it worked fine. but im just wondering, is it going to go 100 miles after i put the motor in? i was trying to find a general range that these transmissions went out...

    it all depends on how hard the car has been driven i guess..if its been babied, the trans would probably last 200k miles or more. if its been beat to hell, then who knows

    ^Agree with Rather. Also CHECK the tranny fluid, If it's brownish & smells burnt, run away. If it too clean, I would be suspect too. That what happened to me when I bought my GTP, the t-fluid was red & clean & the guy said it he changed it a year ago, but about 2 weeks later, my trans went out on me. Also I would keep looking for one, MI has some decent deals on AutoParts. I got my new trans for $200 up in Michigan & it only had 25000 miles .
    176K Miles, Things Done: 25K Tranny, VC & LIM Gaskets Replaced, synthetic fluids all around.
    Mods to come: CAI, Headers, Roller Rockers, U-bend & DP Delete, etc
