Thread: new transmission pan from cartuning

"OFFICIALLY AVAILABLE TO ORDER! Cartuning Performance is very excited to finally offer our deep sump 4T65E pan for sale. This pan is the result of much research and development concerning line pressure fluctuations that lead to many 65E failures. This pan adds 3 quarts of fluid capacity, and drop the filter to the very bottom of the pan. This upgrade completely eliminates line pressure fluctuations due to poor drain back, high G force acceleration, or hard cornering. The exposed aluminum surface, extra 3 quarts, and eliminated slippage due to consistent pressures greatly helps with cooling the transmission, as we have seen an average of 20f lower temps.A magnetic drain plug is included with the kit, along with the filter spacer adaptor (billet 6061 aluminum). This drain plug is intended for easy pan drops, not for complete drains of a transmission as it will still leave 1/2" of fluid in the pan. The pan is made of 300 series aluminum and has been throurouly tested for rigidity and strength."

looks like he wanted to solve the additional leak point of a pan spacer.

as with the zzp pan I worry about breaking the pan. with road debris

soooo will it stand a 50 cal round? or 15 lbs of high yield explosives? if not then i dont want it

I had the joy of trying to dodge a pair of bolt cutters at 65mph on 355 south. I missed it barely but the handle still hit the side of the regal, thankfully I knew where my open evasion routes were (on a side note, thank the gods for the new suspension, the thing handles like a dream)

aside from that ive dodged rusted off mufflers/cats, brackets, tire irons, a shovel, chain binders, among other things (alligators/rubber bungies with the S hook)
ive replaced at least one engine that died due to a debris strike on an oem alum pan.

while the zzp pan is pretty beefy with the cooling fins helping to stiffen the flat bottom, I still worry about lunching a 7k$ trans, the engine is 250$ a the Jyard....cant imagine all the scrap metal id find inside the trans IF something happened.

so im using the steel pan below my 1" spacer since the pan sits nearly level with the subframe

that and I engineered my spacer extra wide/thick to help keep the trans case from warping

this pan should prove to be quite popular esp at that price point vs the 1" spacer since it removes a leak path

you do realise that im just messing with you if any pan could survive that then i think most people would want that pan.

Really I had no idea

I drive commercial truck and do the same route every day, part of that route is going threw Detroit, I've dodged all kinds of auto parts, a king size mattress, and even a puppy.
One thing I couldn't dodge was a super single tire, took half my bumper lol.

chitcago roads aren't getting any better I forgot to add chunks of concrete to my list of debris

You guys have me wondering if you are driving through a junkyard or a highway lol.

Pan looks great, I'd want one if I were still in the game.

Yeah I'm sure in this economy people are spending the money to replace rusting off car parts. I see people driving around on bald tires way too often for me to believe that more than 50% of the cars on the road are in excellent mechanical condition without Parts falling off.

In Ontario if I see something on the road, the next day I drive by its gone, in Michigan it will be there for weeks lol

Looks nice lol... Maybe I'll be the ginea pig

After being under my car doing a pan drop and seeing as that's the lowest item on the car I really don't think that would work for a lot of us. We'd be cracking trans pans instead of oil pans lol

At stock height I'm sure its fine... Now lowered especially a bigger drop then I'd start to get worried
