Like the title says, I'm looking to purchase an OEM stock radio for a 97-03 GP. Girlfriends dad owns an 01-03 GP, not exactly sure which year though. He drives a lot and his radio is broken with minimal automotive knowledge. So I figured for Christmas, I'd purchase another OEM radio and replace it for him. I've been told the 7-way EQ OEM radio is the best, so this is the radio I would like to purchase.

*Yes I know I can go to junk yard and find one there, but then I'm taking a chance if it works properly or not. I'd like to support a GPF member first before chance it at the JY.

Does it actually produce a better sound quality?

I've honestly never ran a stock radio in any of my Grand Prixs I've owned.

I have 2 of the "bottom" radios. one is a monsoon (in my car) and the other is exactly like the one in the bottom picture. both have the issue where sometimes the volume knob does whatever it wants on occasion. I use the steering wheel controls most of the time so it isn't a huge bother. sometimes they behave normally. pm me an offer on each if you're interested. thanks!

Is there a sound difference between the monsoon and regular radio? They both look identical.

I put the 7 way EQ radio in my car recently it is so much better than just the bass and terrble slider radio.

X2, that's the first thing I did to my car. I still have the radio in the first pic but dono if it's worth it to ship from Canada.

Might have to check out a j/y. That's were my EQ radio came from and works great.

I did see that, but he mentioned the volume knob doesn't work properly sometimes.

My girlfriend's fathers car doesn't have steering wheel controls. So the I'd prefer if the volume knob worked properly all the time.

Dan I have the stock one out of my GTP somewhere. Only issue with it is if you ride down a bumpy road the cd player skips.
It is the same as the one in this pic.
