Hey guy,
Looking to do the f- body brake conversion anyone got the calipers and brackets?
I have some brackets drilled for W-body.
$35 shipped!
He needs the whole set up calipers and all, and I saw those ones on ebay not crazy about drilled rotors or off brands been using power slots since 1991 (plus then they will match his rear rotors) without rotors he wants 152 thats a bit steep for himespecially since he does his own powder coating but thanks guys
That's actually a really good deal for new F-body calipers with brackets.
Callahan isn't an off-brand. Zalinsky auto has been selling them for years.
:P
Oh I agree on the price not being bad but he can get remans for 106 for the pair or $40.00 from a place Bill recommended powder coating is free since he just bought an oven a gun (after the spartan deal he decided why not just do them himself would come out to the same price as having them done plus now he has the equipment and could do other parts and maybe some side work) and this way he can also can two tone the calipers like he wants to. He meant and off brand on the rotors he likes his power slots lol
I was just joking about the off-brand. I have never heard of them outside of Tommy Boy.
BTW, where can you get $40 for complete calipers? PM me if you don't mind. I do a lot of brake work for people and also do my own powdercoating, so a good cheap source of calipers would be awesome.
What Bill said he was the one told e abouth them but I find a local guy here has a set for 50. I will see if he can go to 40.00
That's cause you are in TN. In New England, it's tougher to find Fbody's as easily.
I paid 50 shipped for my pair calipers and brackets
Yards around here have a lot of f bodys but mostly 97 or older last week I found 2 96's 6 95's and about 6 97's that was aggravating I been looking since about october so I am figuring this guy for $50 (he won't go the $40.) with all bolts and brackets and they look in great shape isn't so bad so I can finish the car off Found a 2000 impala police car at the yard I want to get the front sway bar off it but the drivers wheel has a rounded off lug nut and I got the bar loose but can get it out it won't come from passenger side and because of that wheel I can't get the tie rod end out (got the bolt off) is the rear sway on that worth taking? Is that bigger and better then whats on my 97? I know the front is and I can get to the rear easy.
Should be better. One way to undo the control arm and the strut. Poof, only thing left is tie rod and it's easy to get at.
Thanks bill I was thinking that last night since I am planning on heading to the yard again Tuesday. BTW I got my calipers now I need to rebuild them problem is I bought them from someone who bought them from someone and nobody knows what engine was in the car it came out of. According to Rock auto I need to know the engine size in order to rebuild the caliper since there were two different kits any way I can tell what kit I need just from the caliper? Thanks
That's an interesting one that I haven't heard before. Look them up on Rockauto and check. I think the 2 piston were only the V8 cars. And that should be only one kit. If there are different ones, maybe there's a difference in the pictures that you can match up.
Thanks Bill I will look into that
Oh no, here we go again
Hope you get what you are looking for and not what happened last time.
Hey tanker,
Thanks for the concern but I got a hold of the guy who sold them to me, just a few minutes ago he said that that "they are nuts they are all them but that should it mater it had an LS1 engine" so if I am remembering correctly thats a 350 Yeah!! I think its gonna finnally happen!! Powder coated calipers and an upgrade at that (no thanks to a certain someone) but a huge thanks to the forum
Glad you are getting what you needed.
