My brother Gabe used to be on this forum quite a bit and we built his GTP up with ZZP. When he had kids the car went basically back to stock and it has been sitting in my moms garage for the past few years. Recently I was tasked with getting it running again and it runs fine however as I pulled onto the street it just acted like it went into neutral. My guess is maybe torque converter but who knows after sitting 4 years.

So I am looking for a stock transmission for a 1997 GTP with torque converter. If you have one please email me. I am in Wisconsin but will travel a little just to get this out of my barn and back into my moms possession to drive again.

i have checked the local bone yards but to no prevail.

Not to de-rail your thread this early on, but I have to ask... Was the trans having issues when it was parked all those years ago?

Maybe she just needs a little love?

no we weren't having any problems with it but with all the different things it could be I would much rather just pu a used tranny in that I know works so I can rule out valve bodies, pressure switches, ect. My guess is torque converter but who know. The car has no rust and the engine is still running strong so I don't want to junk it. With a tranny the works the car would be a nice second car for my mom but I want to make sure it is reliable.

check the fluid level? really low fluid can make it not move.

I have to look I don't remember removing a vacuum line. We have a 4t65E-HD Tracy in this (I believe). That being said I did pull the transmission over the weekend so I will verify. Being involved after the fact has me shooting in the dark. Either TCC lock up is no working or the TC itself is bad

Definitely. Seems extremely odd/rare that something internal would fail just from sitting. Even if it was for a long time.

Check fluid, check wiring, row through all the gears manually. A whole lot of checking and diagnosis is still way easier than a trans swap.
