I'm not sure I like the texture. I think I would like it smooth better.

gotta say, not a fan of the flat black out line there, and the edges look like crap. I guess that's from the tape you posted about....they gonna fix that up?

they are going to fix the edges, I don't think I like the texture either. I am trying to figure out a good way to tell them to paint it smooth. the body shop guy says it will be wavy, but I might be able to put up with the waves better.

Nice I think it came out well. Is the scoop straight? Could be the pictures but it looks like it's not centered. And i'd have them smooth the edges otherwise it makes it looks like a stick on kinda.

I was thinking the same thing - in a few pictures it does not look straight.

I think it would look better if it looks like all one hood, like it matched the paint on the hood and was shiny and stuff.

I have had limited success heating and bending fiberglass but it can help a scoop fit. It wants to creep back when it gets hot and cold again, though.

Here is the only product I am aware of that is technically approved for attaching SMC/FRP to metal. It works as intended when used properly but is not intended for use in the hood scoop scenario. It worked as well as can be expected, for me. Hopefully its a helpful tip.

the coating has to stay or the scoop will flap around while I drive on the highway. i'm thinking about getting it painted with silver leaf or something like that.

try some photo shopping out, i think silver would break it up and make it pop more. it needs something other than that flat black crap.

never messed with photo shop before. I got the idea of the silver leaf watching fast and loud yesterday when they painted a gasser with green flake. anyone want to try photoshopping in some silver leaf for me?

pretty sure it was a green gaser, and gold leaf letters. that were stickers really, cause the guy spelt business wrong on the car

f doing it in gold or silver leaf. have it painted silver, hell the whole damn thing might look good silver.

this is the only way i like gold leaf or silver, turned. looks great on lettering.

thats the episode I was talking about. Are you talking about painting the whole hood or just the scoop silver? I thought the leaf was a good idea because it would give the texture a different pattern.

just the scoop, maybe leave the inside old hood part black? you need to pay with some photo shop.

someone here will play with it for ya. post a thread asking for this scoop silver outlined, all silver, what ever your thinking. at least you can get a feel for how it will look.
