    Last night one of my fog lights burnt out. And tonight one of the headlights burnt out. My headlights are the Silverstars Ultras (which dont seem much better than the average halogen bulb). I want to eventually get HID's for both fog/headlights but with christmas coming/ bills to pay/ and car repairs to be done, HID's will have to wait. I just need to replace these asap (like in the next day or two) for safety and to avoid a ticket. Im just curious if there are brighter replacement bulbs?

    1.) Im wondering if the set of HID's that I have from my Contour would work in the GP? The Contour uses the 9006 bulbs. I realize there would be no high beams, but I never use high beams anyway. If not, is there a bright halogen 9007 bulb or an alternative?

    2.) Is there a brighter halogen fog light bulb alternative that could be used? I have heard that a different bulb that is brighter could be used instead of the 880 fog light bulb.

    3.) Is there a yellow/amber fog light bulb available? I would prefer a yellow/amber fog light bulb if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    I'd just buy a standard 9007 bulb, most are "white" light anyway without the price of silverstars. The 9006 wouldnt work, not the right size.

    As for fog lights I am not sure if a "stock" type bulb is sold in amber. They do make a 898 bulb that is brighter/more watts, but I tried that and it started melting my fog light housing, so I went back to 880's.

    Silverstars burn out quicker than most bulbs. If you are looking for something to replace them just get the xtravision. They will be a little more yellow but they don't have that blue coating on the them like the silverstars which elimates light output. The blue coating is there to produce white light. If there is a pep boys around you, they sell the philips xtreme bulbs which are as good as it gets for halogens. If you are runnig stock fog lights then just stick with the stock bulbs. Napa also carries some philips bulbs.

    Look up 9011 and 9012 bulbs on amazon. They are HIR or HIR2 and have more lumens and can be modified (really easy) to work for 9005 and 9006. There life is longer than a stock bulb.

    9005 = 1000 lumens (55 watts)
    9011 = 1759 lumens (55 watts)
    9006 = 1800 lumens (65 watts)
    9012 = 2800 lumens (65 watts)

    Everything was typed from memory.

    I run the 55 watt low beams.

    These are good for an 04+. But the pic in his avatar shows he has a 97-03. So these won't work.

    If you already have HID ballasts, you'll just need new bulbs to fit your car.

    The ballasts are fairly universal, although I'm not sure which ones you have so I can't comment on reliability or quality

    100 watts, might melt the wiring and the housing! They should be bright!

    If you want amber/yellow fogs you'll just have to get some clear vinyl and put over the lens. That's what I did.

    I was just thinking about yellow tint at work today. I know a few of you guys use the yellow tint/vinyl to make your fog lights yellow. I have always liked the look of the yellow fog lights.

    Where can I find the yellow/amber tint/vinyl? How well does it hold up to rock chips? How hard is it to apply? Is there a spray tint like the VHT Nightshade? Is there anything like this that I could possibly get from Autozone, O'reilly, NAPA, etc.

    Im just wondering for when we have the money for car "upgrades". I have an extra pair of fog light housings.

    Thanks.

    All I did was clean mine off and put the vinyl on, then trim. I got mine online, I forgot from where though. Personally I like amber over yellow just because the corners are already amber and it matches better, I did have yellow at first.

    Laminx makes some colored film. You could run high wattage bulbs in the housings but just be sure to get an upgraded relay harness so you don't melt your stock wiring.
