So i currently have some 55w 6000k hid's in my stock headlight housing. I was kinda expecting more from them, and i think my housing is the problem. One of my housings has tons of moisture and its so foggy i can't even see the bulb from all the moisture and little cracks. The other housing has a little moisture and lots of tiny cracks. So i can get OEM style replacements from zzp for like $60, or i can get some of those spyder brand projectors. So what would you guys do, go with the oem style headlights with HID's or spend the extra on some projectors. Also, do projectors with HID's give better light output than oem headlights with HIDs?

    Retrofit. Best
    Stock housing with hid. Great.
    EBay projectors. Worst.

Get the stock housings and hids preferably 5k and be happy with bright lights.

yeah i was looking at the how-to for retrofitting morimoto minis into the 97-03 headlights and i was considering it. But there seemed to be some modifications to the projectors you have to make, and im not sure if i could do it properly. I think ill just get the stock headlights cause the guy who wrote the how-to said its best to start with new headlights and heard too that TRS has a good black friday sale, so i was thinking about maybe buying the stock headlights and then retorfitting them in a few weeks if a good enough deal comes out

BlueMagic hit it on the head... Get nice clear, new housings and go with your 55w HID's.

    is what I'm running and I'm happy : )

got my HID's from Retrofitsource.com tho, not cheapy's, work great, never a problem.

I bought two sets of headlights off of eBay.

You get what you pay for. That is all.

yes, but seems price has gone up a bit. Sometimes there are coupons or sales if you want to wait for a better price. I had a cheaper set of HID's, one ballast always gave me trouble so decided to go top end. There are good sets available for less if you look around and do some research prior to purchasing. But for the difference (-$50) I went with retrofit source.

A few notes... Bi-Zenon... Is basically useless as the filament doesn't line up correctly for hi beams. You can do some extra work to tap the lamp holder and insert a screw (there's write up's) to adjust how far the lamp goes into the housing, thereby aligning properly and you can have somewhat hi beams. I got these, leave it on regular beam and is just fine (55w).

Some posts state the 55w will melt the headlight housings... Been using it a while now, no problem.
