I was just curious what type/model of led lights will fit in my instrument cluster. I know too that you have to get rid of the red film before you can even see the blue light. I was also wondering if you simply take off the instrument cluster, take the old lights out and just plug the new blue LED's in.

I ordered some different colored guage faces. I hope they come in next week. The website had instructions for taking apart the guage cluster. I will post a link to them.

If you remove the red film, these create nasty hot spots.

what i did was remove the red film and retrofit several sections of LED strip. I will try and get a picture of the finished product later.

the picure makes it look much worse than it is. Everything is a fairly even intensity.

so im assuming you just got some of the basic strip led's with sticky backing and stuck them on the gauge cluster back? and do you have a picture of how you positioned the led's? also, was is labor intensive, or is it something i could do in like 4-5 hours.

I ordered the 5 meter roll from Amazon. Yes, it has an adhesive back. It's a bit labor intensive, but very doable. I have all of these strips powered from a single twist-in plug from the gauge housing. I also put in a 470 resistor to dim it down a bit when I redid it. It used to be stupid bright. I'll see what I have for pictures of the cluster guts.

I don't know what color you are converting to, but this is what I used.

the resistors are built in to this item, you can hook it up directly to 12 volt. However, I found this to be way too bright compared to the rest of my interior lights so I added the additional resistor mentioned above. You may acquire it from the Rat Shack.
