that's why it is technically illegal in every state (if you get a ticket it was because you were acting funny and he needed a reason to stop you though)

same with headlight covers, or anything that changes the appearance of a part that say DOT (if it's a light it must pass DOT standards)

If they are tinted as light as mine you can still see the light with no problem during the day and little to no light diminish. My wife's are hard to see during the day unless your about 15 feet away but that is why I make sure her third light works! When I applied for a plate through the sheriff's department here he came out looked at everything and said he liked the lights then approved the car. Law here states you have to be able to see the brake lights clearly at 15 feet. Any more than that and you have to know your coming up on a car too fast when they are stopping and your not.
debadged, clear corners, 20% tint, tinted tails, vibrant performance tips, red painted calipers, Fig. grills, autometer guages, PFYC 3 pod A pillar, SLP CAI, 2.5" DP, SD Hood, SD front air damn, Gen I spoiler, 17X8 Borbet Type M rims, engine upgrades soon!

If this happened with this mod, they would have a VERY strong case against you. Say you have full coverage, and you get rear ended, and they pull this on you, and your insurance company...they (your insurance company) find out YOU had modified tail lights on your car, they will of course have to pay to fix or replace his car depending on how much damage, and could drop you like a rock.

Thats right...your rear ended car would be on you to fix, or replace, YOUR car, and pay for his damage and nay medical expenses if it was bad enough, and there would be a good chance the company would drop you as a customer. The insurance company will go after you for their loss, if you are at fault. Just how it works.

Hopefully no pictures would be taken at the scene of the accident, and you are able to replace the tinted ones with stock ones with bulbs that work before they come see your car, but that would be illegal and defrauding the insurance company, punishable by jail time, and a very hefty fine.

Thats why my tail lights on my car are stock and will for ever stay stock on all of my cars. Just my opinion on the matter. So, you think your overly paranoid, I think your being realistic.

Yeah, I was just trying to think it through more or less. I mean, a spare set that has been tinted for car shows and such would be fine, but I just would have all kinds of reservations using a set on a daily basis.

I found these sticker strips on ebay one day. You just put them on in order and they cover just so much of the tail light and i have not seen any since and i couldnt even tell you what the company was i got them from. I dont know if you can find them anymore but they were a sinch to put on and they were only like 15 with shipping.

I agree those on the 97 look great!! I need to buy a completed set or find a good spare set and have them done as one of the ones that came on my GTP is cracked and in really bad shape with moisture and all.
