while trying to paint the console cover I ran into a problem. when I started to paint the drink holder cover I noticed that I have tons of little holes in the plastic, and when I tried to prime and paint it made bubbles where the holes are. and when I started to paint teh dash cover it fish-eyed like crazy. has anyone else ran into this kinda troube?
As far as the dash cover yes I did clean it, with soap & water then aceatone.

You are going to need a good sanding to smooth out the porous plastic.

Try Wet sanding from 600 grit all the way up to 2000 grit, going by increments of 200. This will give you a smooth surface with a great finish. Just remember, WET SANDING.

I personally wound not bother with the expense of wet sanding a plastic material when prepping it for primer. I would start with a 240 and then 320 and then at the very least 400 if you wanna take it to 500grit thats even better. But having a 400grit sand scratch is a good base for a HighBuild primer. Then sand the HBPrimer with 320 or 400 with a block if you want is perfectly smooth, doing so you may have to use two or more coats of HighBuild. Then the rest is base and clear. Then to level out and minimize your orange peel...or runs...with the wet sanding.

well the fish-eye problem with the dash part was solved by tons of sanding (again) and more primer. the problem that I was having with the drink holder was solved by some spot putty and sanding.
over all it is not the color that I wanted but it doesnt look horrable, so I'm going to give it a couple of weeks in the car to see if I want to start over (again).

I was trying to get it all silver with some blue accents, now its just blue.
when I had all the silver on there it looked awesome. but as soon as I put the clear coat on it, it went to some kinda light charcoal color (yuck).
and I was using DupliColor for all this stuff, lots and lots of work, I need a break.

Take a deep breath...lol try getting a hold of some better paint, that stuff is good for little jobs but if you want something more professional use different, better, and probably more expensive paint. Also try painting the silver first, let it dry for a couple of days, mask it off and than do the blue, this might help and it might not. Post up some pics though I'm curious to how it looks.

did you ever use armoral or however its spelled on the dash before? ive always heard it has some sillicon in it and wont let paint stick very well. makes fisheye trouble. thats what our painter at work told me anyways
