I am tired of stock headlights on my 02 GP. Of the types of aftermarket bulbs (projector/HID) which are the best and why?

What condition are your stock headlight lenses in? Going from hazed housings to clear ones, relaying the wiring and running Silverstar Ultras was like night/day...literally. You may want to try that first and see how things look.

I currently am running the silverstar bulbs and even though it is better than what the stock bulbs were the visibility still sucks in comparison. I have heard that HID's might melt the plastic lens. My light housings are in good shape I just need better (deer spotters) I don't care about looks as much as care about quality of lights.

Silverstars or Silverstar Ultras? Have you relayed the headlights? You could also upgrade to 55W foglights and run them on with your headlights.

I drive alot at night, so I upgraded to projectors (the halo's are a bonus). I liked them even with the stock white bulbs, then I tried Silverstars. They were awsome, but I went ahead and went to HID's. The stock wiring doesn't play too well with the ballasts, so use relays if you upgrade. I posted a few shots of mine so you could get a look.

The light output from the projectors is amazing. Even with stock bulbs, the light is focused 1000x better than the stock headlights. I'd recommend getting the projectors, then if you need more light you can upgrade to HID's in the projectors.

One thing to watch out for: there are two designs of projectors available for our car. The ones posted above are form Spyder Auto. They're the ones you want. The other ones are H3 projectors, and according to the few people who have them light output is the same as or worse than the stock headlights. You can identify these by the 6 LED's in the corner.

Sad but true. A kid down the street liked mine and bought some from EBay for less than a buck twenty five. They didn't fit too well, and the light was 'thin', for a lack of a better word. When he drove, they bounced horribly. Mine went in with no sweat.

Here is a link to the headlights and HID's on my car:

97-03 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS 1PC HALO - BLACK by:

I would think that the cheaper projectors would work out ok, but I found out that the cheap HID kits are not worth the trouble. I had a cheap pair in my wife's Taurus, the igniter boxes kept failing.
