just curious as to what yall think of HID headlights as i have never had them or any conversion kits or anything? I wish the lights on my gxp now were brighter and this looked like a good way to do that. Has anyone done it. Any ideas are welcome. also whats the difference between hid and projection lights?

If you wanna blind people, sure.

Projectors are a type of capsule. Those are good...but not the ebay ones.

    Projectors won't blind people.

I'll add to that a little. Projectors can take both halogen or HID bulbs.

If you want projectors it's some work. They're called retrofits. Rather involved. I made a set for my 97. Not sure what needs to be done for an 04+

Most common projector used in the GP's is the Morimoto Mini. Has both low and high beam in one. I'd PM Drunkie or Negativeone as they've done retro's.

Hids in reflector based lights scattering light causing glare to other drives. A proper projector will avoid this issue because they are designed to be used with hids.

This is one of the headlights I've done in the past..

Similar to what you'll be seeing in the road. Notice how the light doesn't scatter

I've done a few sets. It's pretty time consuming. It's not very difficult but could get frustrating if your not sure how to do them.

There's a write up around here somewhere one how to do them. I use a slightly different method myself. In sure someone will chime in with link...I can't right now since I'm on tapatalk. I sold a few sets before but stopped making them since most didn't want to pay for parts + labor. Once you get a set if projectors you won't go back to regular lights its a world of difference.

Something you may want to try is HIR(Halogen Infrared refraction) bulbs. They're supposed to be 75% of the brightness of HID's, but retain a much better beam pattern eliminating the glare. I'm 99% sure the high beam would need a 9011 but I have no clue on the low beam.
