yea i saw that its been done, thats why i tried it... and we all know plasti dip just peels off.. so this is just an experiment.. what i really want to do is to just demold, and debadge the whole car... buuuut... after 11 years and being in Ohio winters, etc... im sure I'll have some nice lines left behind that i dont feel like buffing out.. sooo.. this is a temporary alternative..

Just broke the car in half. Those moldings should have never been there to begin with.

Yes it does peel off. My 18's are plasti dipped and after 20 minutes of peeling one wheel I said **** this ****, put them in the garage, and put the other wheels back on. That's after 3 months of them being baked on from the Texas heat.

Luckily I'm in Ohio lol... although we've had one of the hottest summers on record, I'm sure it doesn't compare to Texas or down south heat period..

I dipped my SS wheels a few months back, and after I was tired of it, I just went to a spray booth and blasted it off..

Lol thx... its just an experiment, and something "different"... like someone said earlier and splitting the car in half, it would cleaner just demolded, but being over 11 years old and in harsh winters, summer heat, etc... I know for a fact I would have paint fade an tape lines.. so.. plasti dip it is lol.. when I get tired of it, or someone hits my door, I'll just peel it off.. no biggie.. but the "Grand Prix" badges will stay dipped.. those I like the most...

That's not the only color.. my SS wheels were gunmetal grey plasti dipped w/the glossifier, some of my tool handles are yellow plasti dip, there's red, gold, metal flake... possibilities are endless... and its error free.. if you mess up, just peel it off.. who wouldn't like that?

I do see your point though.. my SS is the Imperial Blue Metallic color.. and flat black is just terrible on it...

I just use it to clean up my fading black trim pieces. Works pretty good for that. We'll see how long it lasts.

Ok it does look really good on the trim and I didn't know about the other colors since I've only seen the flat black.

I really can't stand the flat black rims, they just look awful to me.

my window trim was shot on all 4 doors, peeled up, cracked, you name it, even some rust on them. 3 times people got cut too.

so i took all 4 off, cut and sanded the the plastic off, left the rubber squeegeeing thing on by the window. painted, cleared them, wet sanded them, then buffed them.

Looking good! I did it because I was trying to stand out a little from the crowd and figured since it had some flaws on it anyway why not plasti dip it. lol
