Do they got through the normal wiper motion? If so, could be that the wiper arms are just on there wrong, otherwise it could be an issue with the motor.

Usually its just bad grounds or the metal tab that may get bent and stop the wiper from going all the way down. I don't know about them stopping halfway up?? I'd check to see if its the right motor/trans -(yes wipers have a trans).

Most of the time that I see this happening, is bad connections or a bad switch. Check all the connections, and make sure that the circuits are in good order. Worse case scenario you will need to replace the switch assembly.

I just drove the car home tonight. tried the wipers. even when they ae shut off...they stick up maybe 3inchs onto the lower section of the window. then when I turn them on..they work fine.......then I hit intermittent. pop up....and then a big twitch I would say where they jump up further and stay, then they go down for the cycle then back up.

wierd. steering isnt the greatest unlike like my GTP...so I have to check that out as well. tomorow is another day

I wish I could point you in a better direction, but I hardly ever hear of any problems with the wipers. In reality I guess it can only be a couple things, the wiper motor or the wiper arms and gears. Im sure Ed Morad would be able to help you out with any of those parts.

I really wish I could give you a better answer, but I just dont know where to point you to.

Oh, I just saw something in your signature Im going to have to PM you about. I have some questions.

I have had a problem with mine before, and it is a known issue.....the problem is that the wiper arms sit on a cone and are wedged on post. Over time, the nut (under a black plastic cap) will loosen and the wiper will not be aligned anymore. I had one get so bad that the drivers side wiper was hitting on top of the drivers side mirror, (after the wife tried to use them on HI)...all it took to fix was to turn them off, pop off the plastic cap, align the wiper and tighten the nut....been working fine for over a year now....

    hope this helps

Well crap, Ive had that happen to me, where the nut would loosen and one wiper would not work properly if at all. But his issue sounded like both of them were doing the same thing.

Is that whats happening UR LOSN? Is it just one wiper or both of them?

it is BOTH of them. I didnt get a chance to look at it today as the car is now under a foot of snow......

at any other setting the wipers work fine...just stay up on the window when off, it is only on intermittent that it stop UP. hmmmmm. maybe its a GT thing, my GTP has never done this. well..it could be age.........

Well, I had to go out in the garage and check out my GP wipers on intermittent. When the wipers are first turned on to an intermittent setting, they will wipe once and then go back down to a "rest" position. This is about 3" above where they normally sit. Then, depending on your intermittent setting, they will wait there the alloted amount of time and then wipe again. Completely normal, my Lumina even does it. When you turn your wiper switch back to the off position, they should travel down to their normal "stored" position.

Do they not go back to the stored position after you turn them off? When they are in their full travel all the way up, does the top of the driver's side wiper extend past the edge of the windshield, over the molding?

It just pops off. It just pressure fits over the nut. Something thin under the edge of it will get it off no problem.

when they go down...they are still rested on the window..instead of going all the way down....on the cowl. and here is the kicker. when they stay UP... they stay straight up ....then they hop up to the end of the windshield at the end of the travel(they dont go past the window),

.........it is freezing up here...just cleaned all the salt off of it to look at the body. its not bad...just these little qwerks....

The problem with the one I just fixed is that the ice was pushing the resting place up instead of where it normally is. I got all the ice off, took the caps off, loosened the wipers, repositioned, tightened. Wala. All done and they work fine.

there is no ice where they sit, but I will take them off and reposition them when I am able to have some free time.

Sorry to thread jack and bring up an old post...but did you get this issue resolved?

I have a friend who has a 2002 GP and his wiper blades (both) are stuck in the UP position. They don't hit the edges when on...and I guess were normal until one day they got stuck on the up position. It just seems like they are parked in the up position.

    Any thoughts?
