I have a spot under my gas door that is bubbling, as I hear is common. I'm just wondering if there is a way to fix this myself...temporarily? I want to get the whole car painted eventually but for now I want this spot fixed. Any suggestions???

Due to the thickness of the metal, if it's bubbling, it's probably already a hole. If not, you can hit the affected area with some 80 grit sandpaper to get it down to bare metal, use some self etching primer, sand with 800 grit, primer again, sand again with like 1200 grit, clean the area, then spray the color of your choice.
For a temp fix why waste your time. Body shop will rip out all your bondo before they do their job.
