I got into a minor fender bender that the other guy got cited for, but it left a nice crack through my front bumper cover since he had a tail hitch. Still playing tag with his insurance so I don't know any thing yet but I am wondering:

Is there anything directly behind the bumper that would need to be replaced? Brackets, or a crumple zone or something? I don't want them just putting a new cover on and have it just being a band-aid. Nor do I want to accept a check and find out there is a lot more than just the bumper cover I need to buy.

I assume they will do an inspection or something, but you know they will try to not spend a dime more than they need to.

Also, the GXP bumper will fit, but not line up without the GXP fenders right?

contact your insurance company if your getting the run around. you will need to have a inspection done and thats just a basic estimate, once its in the repair shop they will discover if there is anything else that needs replacing and bill his insurance for it. Make sure you get the original bumper cover and not the cheap one that is missing the Pontiac lettering.

the actual bumper underneath it and foam that goes between that and the cover are all that is under it unless it stuck in far enough to hit the radiator or frame rails.

His insurance company *wasn't* giving me a run around, just kept missing calls to/from them etc. But today, they started ****ing with me on "who's at fault", so I went to my insurance agent. If his insurance doesn't pay, I still have to pay my deductible but no increase in my rates since he was cited, not me.
