that is a nice kit...like i said i dunno about that other brand but silverstar will deff. be brighter than stock...also there is another HID question here. http://www.grandprixforums.net/f11/u...read-2415.html
I guess I will put SilverStar in, just need to figure out how to get the bulb out. My headlight is a pita to remove the bulb. If I looked at it correctly lastnight.
Is there a site that has the SS ultra at a low price?
not sure, i just know that silverstar is sold at most auto stores...they made a pretty big hit...i dont think there the best bang for your buck though. but will work for what u want
SS and SS Ultra's both look about the same. IIRC the difference is that the ultras are supposed to last longer. You can get SS Ultras for the foglights too (880), but these burn out very quickly. They're both whiter, and a little brighter, but IMO they're not a significant improvement.
If you want more light, HID's or projectors would be your best bet. The projectors use an H1 bulb, which puts our more light (1550 vs 1000 lumens), and more importantly they're 1000x better focused. No matter what you put in the stock capsules, the biggest problem with them isn't how much light they put out, but how poorly the capsule is designed.
Last thought: How old are your stock capsules? Over time the lens gets cloudy, and the reflector can become less shiny or spotted. Replacing my stock capsules with brand new ones made a bigger difference than any bulb ever could.
To remove the bulb:
Remove the headlight assembly. There are two 10mm screws on top of the assembly. Unscrew these, and the whole headlight/turn signal assembly will come out. The bulb is just held into the capsule with a plastic retaining ring.
When reinstalling the headlight assembly, make sure you get both tabs on the headlight bracket back in their slots. If you only get one tab in, the headlight will shake like crazy.
Well I just ended up getting the SilverStar Ultra and that helped and then I cleared up the headlights and that really helped. The lens are pitted on the inside. Here inlays my question, I want to get new clear corners, but looking around, the cheapest that I can find is 160 bucks. On the other hand, I can get the Clear Corners for 30 shipped, is there a way I can buy just the headlight parts later?
