I'm speaking from knowing several, not just one several, people who had fiberglass hoods and swore they'd never run hood pins and ended up with a smashed windshield, roof, and destroyed hood.
Best instance is my friend who has video of him doing 160mph with a fiberglass hood and no pins. Figure, well hell, its never going to fail. One day driving in traffic at 45 mph it happened and caused $2000 in damage.
Ok mang whatever you say... my gtp is lucky to ever see 90mph and if he didn't have hood pins and that actually happened the latch failed. It actually latches better than the factory hood.... 160mph isn't going to make fiberglass just rip apart lmao..... Sounds like your buddies popped their hoods to check their oil forgot they popped them then did their 160mph runs. What car is this you speak of again?
My gtx hood fits like factory, latches like factory, opens like factory and at highway speeds doesn't even flutter one I-otto like factory. Only way this hood is coming apart is if I crash the front end of my car.....
The hood was latched. The latch didn't fail, the fiberglass did. It was on a twin turbo Stealth. It was not some cheap ebay hood either, it was a high quality hood made by a trusted vendor.
And you misread. It did fine at 160, so the thought process would be, it should be fine at any speed, but it wasn't. It came up in traffic at 45. Sometimes **** happens.
