Being able to see out the back window isnt always about backing up. When you change lanes you do have to be able to see behind you. If someone has crappy lights it isnt always easy to see them with tints
30% is pretty much the practical limit in terms of seeing well enough out the back at night. you can always get brighter bulbs or even LEDs. and I am not a fan of the windshield strip / brow!
35 if you want to stay legal. 20 if you wantto get away wiht it, and 5 if you are a complete rebel toward the government lol
me? im gonna get like 15 or 20 this winter
Stick with legal darkest tinting. But more important than how dark you go, is the manufacture of the tinting and the material it's made of. Have to make sure it will last a very long time, and not interfere with the radio. I have Llumar ATR CH SR HPR with 30% on the fronts and 15% on the backs. That's the darkest legally allowed in Florida. It has a lifetime warranty and hasn't interferred with my AM or FM stations from what I can tell. This is the second car of mine I've had it on. And the rest of my family's cars all have the same stuff. My total cost was $154 which was just front/rear passenger windows and rear window. I haven't done the front strip cause my windshield has a strip in the glass itself. I've never had any problems with seeing at night with this 30/15 setup. Even at night I still flip the rearview mirror cause the headlight behind me are too bright for me to drive comfortably.
legal tint here is 35%. with that being said, we have one of the highest crime rates in the country, therefore, i have never been pulled over for tint and i dont know anyone who has.
on my GT, i had 15% all the way around and it was perfect. just dark enough. 20% seems a touch too light for me.
but on the same note, my gtp has 35% i believe, and it's OKAY for me. i would prefer it darker, but i get anxious and tremble at the thoughts of someone pouncing around in my car's interior to re-do the tint. so yeah
point is... if you want a mid point perhaps 20 is your winner.
i had a durango with 15% all the way around one rainy night backing out and couldnt see (dark tint plus rain)... i hit a car (camary) tore the bumper off.. triple tinted.. but when checked by police was read at 15% soo my advice is to go a tad lighter...
Get 15% or 20% you will be happy with either one, anything higher is just too light IMO. I have 5 all the way around and its a ***** at night. Next time it will be 20 all the way around and if I decide to get a brow it will be 5. But I have never been pulled over for my tint (I live in Indiana, legal is 35 front 20 back I believe) and the 3 times that I have been pulled over they havent said a thing about my tint
the back was triple tented.. and plus not that much lightin with a heavy rain storm.... i have 20% on my gtp.. even tho the police reader said 16 one time and the second time 19% ... i kno its lighter than my truck but darker than my brother car 30% so im sticking with 20%
It was once illegal to have front window tint below 50% here.
Now they allow front window tint down to 35%, as long as the rear is 35% or higher.
However, I have 35% on the front, and 5% on the rear. I have had my tints for 2 years, never have I been pulled over or harassed about them. My car is NOT quiet.
I am looking into said 5% windshield brow.
Glad you went the correct route with it!
Like I said, other than % tint, hope you went with a good company, 20% crap tint is gonna wear out in only a few years so I hope you spent the extra money on a better brand of tinting like Llumar or something similar.
I actually work at a chevy dealership and there is a company that comes to tint windows on some of the cars on the lot. I got a bunch of the other mechanics together that wanted to get their windows tinited and called the guy. He came right to the dealership and did a bunch of ours in 1 day and did it for cheap because of the group i got together! Worked out great, looks good, and isnt the cheap sh*t![]()
Has anyone gotten the Llumar Air Blue clear tinting on the windshield that has a HUD at all? I was wondering how the reflectivity of the HUD on the windshield works out with this tinting/film on there.
