well...i dont like sound insulation thats for sure! but the one thing im concerned about is if it keeps anything from happening to the paint on your hood if it gets too hot?

it is a fire blanket thing. supposed to fall on the engine and put it out when it starts on fire, but usually just adds to the fire.

yes, it is a fire blanket. im serious. it will not affect the paint on the hood. i havnt ran one since i bought my car 3 years ago. take it off and paint the underside of the hood or get creative and put up some reflective (mirror) stuff on it. looks good.

They do paint underneath it but they don't put clear so that's why it may look the way it does.

Well that might be the case with some of the hoods but mine they just cheaped out on the paint or it was break time for the painters.

some are painted, some arent. it is just the luck of the draw. when i got my current hood painted they did the inside and out.

Just to confirm, it is NOT a fire blanket lol. It serves 2 purposes 1/ sound 2/ to protect the paint on your hood from heat.
