Thread: Tail-lights separated/moisture - Take apart and re-seal?

Hi, My tail lights have been "separated" for awhile, meaning white bubbles appear between the Black striping and the lens. Recently I guess the weather sealant broke and I was pouring a half liter of water out of my dead tail light.



Got some new bulbs for my blinker and the tail light (water made the bulbs bust)

So now I have my tail light out on the table. I want to get the moisture out and reseal the lens. I've searched but didn't find a straight answer on how to bake and re-seal the light.

I know it definitely doesn't have snaps, its glued. So could someone tell me what temp. to heat it at and for how long. What do I need? I have the weather sealant but I'm guessing I need some kind of other glue to get the lens and housing back together.

Then does the weather sealant just go around the seams? If someone could do a quick how-to for me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

That sucks, so tint will help hide the bubbles? I'm guessing this is a common occurrence with the GP tail lights?

I decided to just put some flowable silicone all the way around. Used a blow dryer to get all the moisture out. Word to the wise: keep the dryer away from the outside or you'll get nasty white gobs from the glue that holds the stripes to the lens.

I'll put a slight tint on them when I can.

i heard you can reseal with nail glue. i was getiting a ton od condensation someone told me to take it out let it dry and use nail glue inbetween and itll help reseal it but may need to redo it in time.

You can just repaint the lines & clear the whole light after you seal the edge up..You dont need to tint them.. If you have a hard time let me know..
