Well I picked up my hood that was painted in Pittsburgh, and needless to say I'm a happy guy! Thanks to dj_stylzpgh/GXP05 who sold his "old" hood to me. I need to take the time to "tweak" the fit and that will happen tomorrow.

Looking good. Don't see to many GXPs running that hood. If Pittsburgh isn't too far of a drive, are you interested in coming out to our race day in October?

Bout a 4 hour drive for me, and with traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike it could be longer!

    Yeah I know whatcha mean.

    This happened November 18, 2008.

Well here is the story as it was told to me about 2 weeks after the accident by the National Park Police. I know that many of you can not appreciate the traffic or the road way, but I’ll try to relate it to you.

The road is the infamous BWP (Baltimore Washington Parkway) I’ve been traveling this road for the last 20 years and in that 20 years I’ve been involved in numerous fenders benders and had 6 other cars totaled NONE of which where my fault!!!. This was the worst.

I was traveling SOUTH on the BWP at the RT32 over pass, just as I went under the overpass, I noticed a van the was out of control coming across the medium (30foot grass strip) from the NORTH bound side. But that’s NOT the vehicle that hit me. Me? I thought that the van had hit me. All that I really remember is the initial impact and the car grinding to a stop. Not much more.

The rest of the story as told to me from the police: The whole thing started on the NORTH bound BWP. A Toyota Camry (never saw it) got hit from behind and was knocked out of control, cut across s lanes of NORTH bound traffic forcing the van off the road. BOTH vehicles came across the medium strip INTO the SOUTH bound lanes. The Camry hit me with ‘back end” of the car, maybe 45 MPH, I was doing 65MPH never touched the brakes. Witness’s told the police that my GP did a barrow roll in the air and came down on the roof, went up on it’s side and rolled again. The impact was so hard that the transmission was broken off the engine. The car folded up to the engine and trans,I had BMR sway bars and was lowered. The shock and spring on the right side were gone and the Engle 077 wheel broken, the sway bar twisted like a pretzel. The Camry? Well they said that the back of the car looked as if it had been in a car compactor. There were parts of car all over the place! Two other cars were involved in trying to avoid the carnage.

I only had two black eyes, bruises from the seat belt, and a chipped elbow “ and a lot of aches and pains, damn lucky.” My wife found out later when work called her to find out where I was, she heard about the accident and couldn’t’ get in touch with me. My daughter and her husband were trying to get information but couldn’t, they all thought that I was dead when mediVac helicopter was called to the scene. Unfortunately there was a woman in the back seat of the Camry and, more than likely not wearing a seat belt, was ejected out the back window. I was told that she later died from her injuries.

    So that’s my story.

Sounds like these GPs are pretty safe cars since you came out so well of that bad wreck.
