I would use a wax remover first. then clay bar the car then add the wax back on. it will turn out so nice. But it will take awhile to do it all.
as for wax and stuff.
Mothers and Meguires work good.
Any auto store should sell it.
that is my current process to a tie. I like it but something different would be nice. just to try more then anything
i like turtle wax ice. all ive used is the synthetic wax and car wash so far but aboslutley love it
i m not much of a fan of just plain turtle wax, although i use that on painted wheels at work. i personally prefer Eagle One Nano wax. just like any other, found at local auto parts store
oh if you can, go to wal mart. SAME EXACT STUFF, HALF THE PRICE. i know the synthetic wax for example was 12 dollars i think at auto zone, at wal mart it was 6.50. wal mart has a lot of good deals on stuff. also get a pack of microfiber towels to dry your car afterwards for no water spots, plus you get to see it shine and admire it lol
unless im doin it wrong i didnt really see a difference between washing my car or washing then waxing. i used the nu-finish cling stuff. when we did my moms brown blazer it looked a thousand times better but then when we did my silver gp i wasnt really impressed. maybe silver is just one of those colors that doesnt really shine up any more than it does. i even used my electric buffer.
hm.... experiment with a couple different washes and see what works for your color. i used to use black magic now i use the turtle wax ice and it looks 10x better. has a much deeper and glossier shine. park your car next to another silver car and see how they look together and see if you can really notice a difference in how clean yours is. just a thought tho
ZAINO Nuff said
its all in the color. darker shows waaaaaaaaayyy more imperfections and lighter colors (silver, white, light blue, etc etc) hide a lot if even the smallest little things. i detail cars and when i buffed out my car i just used a glaze and that did a little and then i noticed some scratches that deff couldve been taken out with more work but they are very hidden in daylight so much that i never even would guess that they are there. colors do lots of various things for cars
I do a wash with Meguiars gold class soap, claybar with mothers clay kit, polish with meguiars m205 (found online: autogeek.net) using a porter cable and white pad, then follow up with either meguiars tech wax paste (found anywhere) or blackfire wet diamond sealant (autogeek.net)
if you dont own a buffer/polisher like i do, you may still do it by hand. its just more work, and the results arent quite as good, but u should still be very pleased
ZAINO is show car quality stuff and it is pricey but its what i used when i detailed cars Its good stuff
Meguires Ultimate compound, use buffer to take off!
Then use Mequires NXT 2.0 almost $20 a bottle and well worth it. Take off with buffer.
Thank me later for your awesome looking paint!
