Get some fishing line or floss and heat up the badge. Move the fishing line or floss in a sawing motion behind the badge until it comes off. Heating it helps the adhesive come off easier. Use some Goo Gone on the adhesive that is remaining on the car.
ok thanks, lot of help!!
Dont rub too hard w/ the (automotive) goo gone otherwise you can cause your paint to fade. I removed the emblems off my impala and I could still see where the emblems were. I rubbed and rubbed and caused my paint to fade. I went to my local body shop and they said that a wax should help it out. I have a black car as well.
I don't have any special Goo Gone and it took off my badges easily. Didn't hurt the paint at all. I got the spray gel Goo Gone so it didn't run everywhere. No residual "shadow" from the badge either.
i took the badge off, looks good but still some residue. im hoping that a good wax will clear that up or possibly applying some goo gone if necessary. any ideas of what to do with the badge i just took off??
wax will not remove it, wax is a sealer not a polish. Goo gone is not really the best thing for it either (you can use water and a rag and get the same effect) wd 40 works well (it is a degreaser), the rubber eraser that is for that works best, if you ever paint the car you will see an outline where it was (every car I have painted that the owner did that had an outline) the eraser removes all the garbage
where can i get this eraser? will it remove the outline now that my paint has faded?
can't remember the name, but it is a big circle of rubber on a bolt, harbor freight sells them (3m makes one but it costs an arm and a leg and is the same thing as the cheap one)
