Re: My HIDs
I got my HIDs from DDM tuning (google is your friend, but it's something like https://www.ddmtuning.com )
-don't want to look up your specific bulb type, but just use the same bulb type that came factory and you should be just fine, since all you are doing is replacing the bulb and adding a ballast behind it (but it's got about a foot of wire so you can put it anywhere you need to). Get the upgraded harness, it makes life simple, and causes no harm. :) I'm very happy with my HIDs, especially since they have a lifetime warranty on the bulbs and wiring.
-from what I've read 04+ can't disable the DRLs.... I don't know 100% though. Also not sure what effects that will have on the HIDs, just know that it's not good and may (should) shorten the life of the bulb and/or ballast.
good luck!

Re: My HIDs
If I were to order the kit from DDMTuning, the relay harness is this, correct?
HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

Re: My HIDs
yeah, that looks right.
Also, they are on sale again. I got mine last time they were on sale and it took 2-3 weeks to get here because they had so many orders they ran out and they were on back order. Worth the wait though! If you have questions you can always call them. They answered all my questions.

Re: My HIDs
whenI was moding hondas, we would use a diode and take a run from the high beam to the low beam to keep both on. this should work the same for our gp's. dont know how this would work with hid's tho. mite have a flicker when you switch back and forth from hi to low. same issue as drl flash.

Re: My HIDs
I have a 06 gp gt and i have checked the fuse panel and the owners manual and found no fuses for drl...So my question is does anybody know how to disable drl?
-
Re: My HIDs
i don't think you can for 04+ :(
-
Re: My HIDs
Hmmm...Well thats gonna suck cause I do plan on buying a couple sets of hids...Just didnt want them on during the day but looks like that whats gonna happen
-
Re: My HIDs
no theres a knob you can twist on your arm for you blinker that you can twist back n turn them off i have to do that with mine quite a bit cause 1 of my lights wont come on half the time so i twist it back n turn them on again

Re: My HIDs
the drl's on 04+ is just the front parking lights/blinker, so hid's are not affected. we have auto head lights, but thats not going to flash the lights on and off. so no big deal.

Re: My HIDs
For those of you who are already running HID's, are any of you running relay kits? I heard those are needed to protect the components?
-
Re: My HIDs
ya im running one. i think they help protect the hids from sudden hits of power to protect the bulbs and ballasts.
like the key fob useage, but you should have already turned the headlight flash off.

Re: My HIDs
If you order the DDM HID hi/HID low bulbs, it comes with the relay kit.... but the hi beams don't really work.... then again, they don't have to and I haven't needed them since. I drive for long distances at night in the middle of nowhere, and everyone else has their hi beams on.

Re: My HIDs
I tried googling for more info on these and all I really found was debates as to whether or not they're really necessary.
What do they do exactly? How do they connect into the system? Can you just get any ol relay kit from anywhere and use it with any HID's?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I really did try to find answers first.

Re: My HIDs
Where did you mount the ballast on the passenger side? Did you have to drill into the compartment housing to mount?
-
Re: My HIDs
Anyone install the bixenon lights? Anyone have problems with the lights melting anything inside the headlight housing?
-
Re: My HIDs
Is a voltage stabilizer needed?
-
Re: My HIDs
Ballast just zip ties to the car :) you are thinking too hard ;)

Re: My HIDs
I don't know about the voltage regulat though. Mine haven't melted anything.
