Hey I just bought a used 1996 Grand Prix 2DR SE Coupe and I was wondering does anyone know if I can get the handle fixed that you pull inside the car to pop the hood? Right now I have to rub two wires together to pop the hood and I'm trying to fix the car up.

thats a great question, considering my hood latch broke. so i was using vice grips to pull the wire, then that frayed so now my hood release wire just sticks outside the front of my car. i'm just waiting for someone to pull it and leave my hood down and have it fly up on me on the highway while im driving to work.

you can buy hood latch's at murrays and autozone.

I came across this problem in my '95 GTP...

I went to the dealer and got a new latch and cable... very simple to put them in

I can't remember how much they were, but it was reasonable in 2005-06

I know that this post is a little out of date for the thread, but, can anyone tell me how to release the hood once the cable has broke free from the latch mechanism? I have a '94 GTP and had to modify the hood cable once before, however, when it broke last time, it popped the hood as it broke. This time, the cable pulled loose from the hood latch.
