Could someone photoshop a red 98 2-door gtp so the top half would be the same color as the gray on the bottom of the bumpers? I'm going to be starting on fixing mine soon and would like to get some idea of how I'd like to paint it. The stock one color is too plain for me.. Feel free to throw in some other color suggestions. I've also considered a black top half. Below are the colors and also what I'm working with.

I have enough experience to get me through. I don't have pics, but I have painted a few vehicles. I have also worked at a couple body shops and a street rod shop. I don't have a good side view of my car on my computer, so I borrowed someone's pic from the internet. The only difference is mine isn't tinted yet- but will be and mine has the painted rims on it.

It shows up a little big for me to view it, so here is the link: http://www.revolutionmotors.net/imag...0gtp%20red.JPG

Thanks for any help, this will help me decide what color I like.

Not my best photoshoping, but its harder on a pic thats got alot of pixelation.

I went with a 3 tone - its not exact nor perfect but could be good if done right

Fascia Grey on the main body - Hood, mirrors and gas cover in like a dark grey (Carbon fiber even would be hot) and a stripe to delinate the 2 colours.

I figure with more time it could look better but i figure for 30 mins of work its a good "idea"

I'd only sand up to 600 to repaint. Is there any damage on them? Also, don't forget the flex agent when you paint it. If they're in good shape, just scuff them, wipe them, and shoot them.

they are plastic panels, and so far ive sanded them down 220 then 400, they feel smooth as hell - should i bother going to 800? or just prime and check for problems?

I wouldn't worry about 800 if it feels nice and smooth.

good to know, my hands are starting to hurt lol

its hilarious, i live in an Apt so im doing this on my lil patio, the bumper is at my moms as it didnt really fit in the car to transport.

a couple of saw horses, bucket of water and a ton of sand paper and its going well - really feeling a sense of pride becuase im doing it myself. next will be paint which i havnt got yet..

if you went through the paint and primer into the panel, be sure to use an etching primer on that area. If you didn't sand through anywhere, you can just use a tack rag and spray it.

I like enzo's idea so I modified it to black and did my best to put a silver pinstripe on it.

mad monkey- it is to prevent any issues from bleeding through the paint
enzo354- I like the way that rolls with the body-lines
J GTP- I wanted to seperate the two-tone, and am glad you did that

Now, is it possible to get the last image in a gunmetal gray instead of black with the silver dividing it? These are the two options I'm picking between. Unless anyone has any other suggestions? Thanks for all the help.

black bottom red top is ok, the grey bottom red top not soo good lol.

i would totally suggest Dark grey or something on top, silver stripe maybe with a zig zag or some design over the rear wheel well.

thanks for the paint tips, im sure i will be asking plenty more before time is up lol this is my first time auto painting - but i figure im often times a perfectionist with my stuff so im sure ill be ok once i get the right products.

I tried one with a zigzag too, that's a cool idea.
