So a few friends and I were discussing the changes we were going to make on my GP. One of my friends suggested to use a Stainless Steel Paint to paint the grille inserts instead of paying $60+ to buy new ones.

Has anybody done this before? And would it work and look good?

I would suggest painting them. I painted mine in the middle of last summer, I've had to re-paint them once since them due to paint chipping from weather. Using stainless steel paint like you said would probably last longer than the paint I used. It definetely makes the car look better and its a lot cheaper than buying ones online for $100+. Its easy to pop the grille out, just use a flathead with a rag on it so you dont scratch the paint and just pop each one out on all sides.

I had mine painted and I'm SO glad I bought some SPO grills, trust me in the long run they look a LOT better and very worth it. It could be a temporary fix by just painting them.

I have an 08 and just bought the street scene ones. If you are going to paint make sure you get a decent paint that will hold onto the plastic.

Just prep them good and they will last...I'd still get some aftermarket grilles as they will last forever and have a good, solid finish to them vs. a rattle can job...
