Installed an Oil Separator (Catch Can) * IMPORTANT UPDATE *

I bought an LFP oil separator for a Ford SVT Lightning off of ebay.

I also bought a valve cover breather with a PCV valve (from PepBoys) since I was using a filter before. Then tapped into the intake side of the turbo.

I haven't started her up yet.

Did you tap into the rear valve cover at all? I'm curious to see if this works to pull the air out enough.

I picked up another front valve cover to install on the rear. I'm going to drill/tap both front and rear oil caps and run nylon tubing from pre-turbo (facing into the air stream) to the front valve cover, then exit out the rear valve cover, through the catch can, and then back into pre-turbo (facing away from the air stream to create a vac).

No I didn't tap into the rear valve cover. I wan't getting that much oil out of the filter breather. I just rather catch it then out onto the engine.

Well I'm going to switch from a PCV breather to a regular breather then go into the oil separator.

I don't have a PCV valve and I used a breather filter and had no problem. If I use the PCV breather, it might not be good when I turn up the boost.

*** UPDATE ***

I just drove the GP for the first time since its' nice out and with this setup.

Even with the regular breather(with tube), I was getting pressure in the crankcase. This was after a while of driving. No oil came out of the breather into the catch can. I just think the foam in the breather isn't flowing enough.

I use coarse copper in the oil neck but the actual breather has foam in it. That is what I also think is the problem. It's restrictive. I think they all come with foam. I can try to just tap into the valve cover or put a fitting on a regular oil cap.

I'll try this again w/o the foam and when I install the rear breather again when I install my new valve springs.

I pulled over and put back the regular filter breather that I had on before this setup and the GP ran fine.

I was getting a lot of smoke out the exhaust and I was smelling oil.

Same thing that happened when I put on a regular oil cap to work on the engine bay so the breather would be in the way. When I forgot to put breather back on, same thing happened and pressure built up.

I might just sell the parts and keep the filter breather. I wans't really getting any oil coming out anyways.
