Ok I'm new to the whole turbo thing but, I'm lookin to build my own and I was wonderin if anybody out there could hook me up with a list of everything I would need including supporting mods as the car is more or less stock. Also, I plan to twincharge it so any suggestions on that would be helpful. Thanks!

I have never twin charged a car........

for the custom turbo kit. you will need:

    tranny
turbo fitted to your application(I'd call the garret, or turbonetics for advice)
a few J bend tubing pieces
    exhaust flanges
    injectors
racetronix fuel pump, or at least a boostapump
intercooler depending on how big of turbo you go.
a stock MAF would suffice depending on the turbo
all depending on how radical you go, a camshaft would be in order
    Wastegate, BOV...the usual turbo stuff.
A few weeks of scanning and tuning..... or take it to a dyno shop.

It is a LOT of effort to make your own kit, but it is cheaper than buying a prefabed kit. the best part is you can say you built it form the ground up

all depends on how fast/broke you want to go.

Thanks much for the advice! One more thing, my engine has 124k on it do you think a complete rebuild is necessary? I would think it is but I figured I'd ask before I start thinkin too much about taking it apart lol.

Or you can find a very low mileage motor...build it on the side and then boost the crap out of the one you have until it blows up and then put in the new one

^^^^^ I'd do what he suggested. I wish I had done that with mine just so I could have driven it.

Yeah...only reason I suggested it is after helping my buddy build his 4G63 from the bottom up...wish I had the video of what it did...dropped the valves...sounded REALLY nice So after that happened he said he didn't want to swap heads and pistons again, so he just put in this crazy 2.3 stroker motor with BC272's and a insane full race setup Beat the crap out of my car from a 60

    Just for fun...

hey this might be a far out idea but it wouldnt be the first, a friend of mine suggested doin a swap with another transmission, prolly manual from somethin that could take the hp/torque increase. Is that possible n how hard would it be?

Almost impossible there is a guy on here that did swap a manual in. I do not think he is modded or very modded and it still would not take the abuse. Unless you have lots and lots of time and money just send you tranny to dave.

I will try to find his thread. I guess it was not the tranny technically, but he could not find axles for it that could take it. Also it is way to much time spent imo.

Yeah he was a stock GT...BONE STOCK...and was snapping axles. Think of what you would be doing with all of that added torque from a blower AND mods...

Hey guys, anybody have a recommendation for an intercooler?? Should I go FM or not and what is max size i could go without having to switch out my hood again? Also, I see ALOT of "universal" IC's on ebay, are any of these safe? Thanks

Have you ever seen that thing in action...it goes 10 mph...hardly short of problems...I'd like to see it beat on like an auto car does.
