Now I want to go play with one to see how I'd do. I raced one with the 5.7 a few years back when I had my Mustang but that car was slow anyways(V6 4.0) But I only lost by a few cars. So I can see how this story is possible.

GTOs aren't that fast with an average driver IMO. When I was rockered and IC'ed me and my buddy went to the track and we were behind two GTOs. They would come out and do massive burnouts and the announcer would hype the **** out of them. In the end they both ran..........low 14s. =(
We would have destroyed them but they would never let us line up with one. Kept holding us up so they could race one another.

    Good kill.

yeah, when I went to Pinks All Out, there was a GTO there with a S/C 6.0 and exhaust. The best he could run was very high 12's. He was a very good driver too. Thought it shoulda atleast hit low 12's, but AI don't know.

faster than a basically stock gtp.....

the 6.0's have diped into the 12's stock. another thing that hurts gto's is there 245 tires and irs.

compared to a camaro tho there dogs. there just so hard to get them rolling. but going down the highway they will move out.

Update guys! LOL I ran into the SAME GTO and got to meet the owner.....It is a automatic!!!! I asked if he was even racing me and he said ya but he didn't wanna get over 80 so he slowed down. That makes some since. Cause I pulled him until I read 80 and then he just kinda started falling back. So I guess he never really got the "top end" But I was going around 110-115 and he was around my bumper...so I dunno!!! But he did get my number! LOL he asked if I could help him put on his KN intake.

GTO's are VERY sluggish! with a good tune and proper timing they can get where they belong.. but factory they are POS..plus they weigh damn near 4k'lbs dont they? There are alot of nice GTO's round here tho, there is one that is blown and damn that ***** is quick....overall..still a nice kill!

After talkin to him I relize he hasent changed his plugs/wire since he owned the car! He got it when he was 17...he is 19!! And the car was used. So im going to help him with that. Not sure havent looked under the hood of a GTO but with the LS1 in the camaro the plug 6 and 8 are a bit*ch to get to! Is it the same on the GTO? Or is it like the good ol' Grand Prix and you have to rock the motor forward? And I know he has "flogged" the crap out of it because he said he has went threw tires like underwear! lol.
