There's most of the problem, try to get the 60 foot below 2 seconds or close to 2 as you can get.

Re: first time at the track

Maybe your transmission is slipping? i mean that can cause lower times.....what were your 60fts?
Re: first time at the track
Yeah, work on your launch. You should be able to get down to a 2.1 60ft on street tires, even if the prep sucks.

Re: first time at the track
Most times i see 04+ trapping a tenth or two and 1-2mph faster then the 97-03s stock for stock in the 1/4 mile. But its all in the driver. Work on your launch bud.
Re: first time at the track
What does it take to have a 12 second 2004+?
Re: first time at the track
my 98 gtp bone stock went 2.19 60', 9.67 1/8 with a .483 rt

To get at least a 12.9 you could probably do it with a nice mild cam, headers, intake, bigger injectors, and a 3.0 pulley custom tuned setup.
Re: first time at the track
You can't just say "X" mods give you "Y" times...
There are tons of different ways to go about things...
A member here went 13.6~ with slicks, intake, and headers. Stock everything else.
I cracked off numerous sub 2.0 60's with KCIR's junk prep and street tires in stock size...it's called: getting behind a dumb fast big tire car and ruttin' the sh1t out of where he left tracks at.
Also: R/T makes no difference on ET's at all...you could sit at the light for a minute and still run a 14 second pass.

I know that and I know why. But, I never race at the track. So tell me this. Don't a lot of guys screw their launch hurrying to get away from the line as soon as the light turns. Is it more important getting across the line first or getting the lower et?

when it comes to racing the other guy yeah reaction time is important, especially when it is bracket racing, but just racing yourself and trying to improve your 60ft for practice yeah i wouldnt worry about it
Re: first time at the track
Bracket racing, I'll never understand that.

Re: first time at the track
It's for consistent cars...not sure what there isn't to understand about it.
We had a stock GTP run bracket at KCIR. Guy ran 14.82x @ 95~ mph damn near spot on everytime. Not to mention the countless .005 or less R/T's.
Re: first time at the track
What's the real purpose of it. What are the basic idea. Unless I read them wrong they make no sense to me.

Re: first time at the track
The idea is to take the effect of having a faster out of the race, and just see who is the better driver.
Re: first time at the track
Then I do understand it. I still think it's stupid.

Re: first time at the track
my 05 gtp with hai ran a 9.95 at 71 mph with a 2.4 60 ft that was my first night with the car at the track after owning it for a week
