My brothers roommate has this 97 gt in mint condition with less than 70k, they came down to hang out this weekend in his car and I could help but talk trash about his mustang so he challenged me. We drove a few miles out of town to a long straight country road, he had my brother in his pass. Seat, we lined up my brother did a count down from the pass seat, we both power braked and launch he never had a chance all the threw 80 mph I had 4+ lengths on him, on our way back in town at a stop light my bro jumped into my car and proceeded to tell me that he thinks he only lost because he had the extra weight I could help but laugh, so he pulled next to me we did several 30 mph rolls with the same out come his face was priceless when he realized he stood no chance. As far as I know his car was stock with dual exhaust my car bone stock zero mods just running 91 octane, I was very pleased with the performance of my gp I don't race it much but this one made me even more content with my car

    Delete U-Bend.

    Get Intake.

    Get 180* with new plugs/wires

    Get tune.

Few hundred bucks and a second faster in the quarter FTW?

    Otherwise good run.

Always cheery as usual nice to see.

I've been trying to set up a race with my buddy in his 99gt with slp exhaust, bbk cai, and diablosport tuned auto. I know he thinks I don't stand a chance. With my stock pulley/tune I might not. Will be fun tho I think.

    94-98 =/= 99-04 GT.

Auto, tuned, intake, exhaust...it'll probably beat the pee outta a stock pullied car with a tune.

And I too am glad I was able to bring some positive light into your day I would have registered as "Bullsh!t Identifier", but I think Blue or Slowpoke were using it at the time.

    I know.

It is also quite better than the '94-'98...I also know the 3V's didn't come out until the '05+ GT's.

Hence why I still said, a stock pullied tuned GTP will be lucky to hit mid 14's and a well driven auto 'stangbanger with a few bolt ons will probably touch the high 13's if the track prep is right.

Buddy had GEARS and no catback on his.

    13.85?

    Yeah, the lulz.

Try from a 35~roll, best chance you'll get.

Yeah the 96-98 GT's made what 215-220 at the crank and the 99-04 made like 260? A GP Gt would have given that stang a run for his money.

They both put around 175 to the tires. Fast.

I used to know that crap inside and out when I had a stang. Now I keep a mild interest in the new ones cuz they are kinda quick and I like shoving it in my buddies face that thinks his ls1 gto is fast. Don't get me wrong its quick but a ls1 camaro with exhaust work keeps up and his gto with a tune, long tubes, plugs wires, and cai. Kinda sad if u ask me. He keeps threatening to put a procharger on it, "games over" at that point he says. He can't touch my buddies 04 dmax truck that runs 12.6's

Edit. I think the gto is a ls1. Its not a 6.0 anyway.

    Apples and oranges muh friend.

Bolt on's M6 GTO vs. my car on a 3.4" with headers and an XP...

03 Camed GTP Vs Bolt on 04 GTO - YouTube

GTO's are heavy and never impressed me TBH. That setup of mine ran a low 13. Think he cracked into the 12's...but most of the time it's about the driver. And yeah, that's an LS1 car.

Do you guys ever race anything that isn't a modular Ford, or an LS1 GM?
